This Blog will be a documentation of our homebuilding process from dirt lot to move-in (and beyond)! I will post pictures, share my thoughts, and ask for input!

New lot, new street!

It is official, we changed lots. Luckily the lot had not been received by construction yet. After Jeff suffered through a sleepless night worrying about the possibility that we will not be able to change, we got the okay. Jeff stayed home today to take care of Leo who is sick and I was able to leave work early to do all of the necessary paperwork. We had to redo all of our forms again. Oh, well! There is still a small possibility that the title company will give us some trouble with transferring the deposit, but I am not worried about it.

Our new street is called "Mitchell" and it is a nice
culdasac right near a walking trail entrance. The new lot is actually larger (8750 sqft) than the last one. So, all in all it is a good move. I like the street name better too. The name "Beverly" reminds me of a babysitter Dave and I used to have who always smelled like alcohol.

I will post pics of the new lot when we get them.

Our (OLD???) Lot

Our nearest intersection (we will live on Beverly
no matter which lot we end up with).

Leo actually took this pic. This will either be
our next door neighbor neighbor or accross
the street neighbor. There are no finished
houses in the subdivision (other than the
models).

Well, Jeff, the boys, and I went to visit the model of our house and the lot today and realized that our house will be facing the wrong way. With over 3500 sq. ft. our plan of utilizing the sun as an energy source is not only going to save us money, it will help us do our part to live "green". In order to best utilize solar energy, our house needs to face North so the back of the roof will face South for the best exposure. Well, our lot has us facing the wrong way. So... we consulted with our (not-so-helpful) agent "Ryan" who said; "I think your plans have already been turned in to construction. If that is the case, we cannot make changes at this point. I will not be able to find out until tomorrow." So we picked a lot (directly accross the street from our current lot) in hopes that the plans have not been turned in. We are keeping our fingers crossed.
